Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cabinet Maker to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, and installing custom paneling into elevators that meets precise specifications and high-quality standards. Your craftsmanship will directly contribute to creating beautiful, functional spaces for our clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity for experienced carpenters with a passion for woodworking and custom fabrication to showcase their talents in a collaborative environment.
This is an entry level position. Some experience required. Will provide training to the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to produce custom paneling solutions.
- Fabricate panels and related woodwork using various hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment such as panel press, sliding arm saw and electric edge bander.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install paneling with precision to ensure perfect fit and finish.
- Perform detailed trim carpentry, fixture installation, and fit/finish work as needed for seamless integration of panels into elevator projects.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure designs meet specifications and expectations while adhering to safety standards.
- Conduct quality checks throughout the fabrication and installation process to maintain high craftsmanship standards.
- Assist with other installation tasks such as paneling, metal cladding, caulking, handrails, flooring installation, and cleaning when required.
Requirements
- Some experience in cabinetry fabrication and installation within the restoration or construction industry.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings related to custom woodwork.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment used in woodworking.
- Any work in trim carpentry, framing carpentry, metal stud framing, and remodeling projects.
- Ability to lift heavy materials safely and perform heavy lifting tasks regularly.
- Experience working on construction sites with knowledge of safety protocols and site-specific procedures.
- Skills in electrical experience, metal cladding, flooring installs are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and clients effectively.

About Us: LYFT SURFACES INC
Lyft Surfaces was founded in 2017 and is the leading provider of custom elevator interiors for all of Alberta. We design, manufacture, install, service and maintain all types of elevator interiors from the very basic to the most elaborate. Our business is a mixture of industries, such as sheet metal, welding, glazing, finished carpentry, cabinet making, engineering and interior design. The most common materials we use are stainless steel, plastic laminate, particle board, back painted glass, mirror, and vinyl. We manufacture most of our own products in-house.
Experience: Cabinet Maker: 1 year making cabinets using a press, table saw and edge bander
Requirements: Canadian Citizenship; Driver’s License with clean abstract; Own vehicle; Consent to background check. Must be local, will not relocate anyone.
Position Details: Position: Permanent Full Time Working Hours: Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm
Shop location is just east of Chestermere
Working Locations: Various sites Mostly in Calgary – with some out of town* work such as Edmonton
*Special payments and extras when working out of town
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00-$32.00 per hour
