Whitehills Long Term Care Centre is seeking an experienced and dedicated Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. The IPAC Nurse functions as a key member of the interdisciplinary team under the direction of the Director of Care, ensuring the implementation and maintenance of infection prevention and control measures. This role involves planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating quality resident care while providing leadership and supervision to staff.
Permanent Part time LPN IPAC position
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and implement infection prevention and control (IPAC) measures in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Educate staff, residents, and families on infection prevention protocols and best practices.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to infection control standards.
- Provide oversight on outbreak management, including reporting and implementing control measures.
- Support staff in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
- Collaborate with external agencies and stakeholders to enhance infection control practices.
- Provide direct resident care and assist with activities of daily living as needed.
- Function as a team leader, supervising and coordinating staff in the provision of resident care.
- Demonstrate effective communication within the department and across the organization.
- Participate in the implementation of organizational and unit-specific goals.
- Assume responsibility for the facility in the absence of senior management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Nova Scotia (CLPNNS).
- Bachelor of Nursing (BN) is an asset.
- Standard First Aid, CPR, and Phlebotomy certification required.
- Experience in a geriatric or long-term care setting is a strong asset.
- Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) experience preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
