The Red Deer Curling Centre (located in the Pidherney Event Centre) is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and motivated individual to join our team for Front Desk and Event Support. The Centre is a versatile, multi-use facility that hosts a variety of activities, including curling leagues and rentals, curling bonspiels, as well as trade shows and other community meetings and events. This exceptional, community-focused, not-for-profit facility features 12 sheets of ice, a pro shop, a kitchen, and a lounge.
Reporting to the General Manager, this role will provide customer service at our front desk, as well as collaboration with the General Manager and appropriate departmental staff for event support both prior to, during, and post event times. This includes client event delivery and venue operations, inter-department collaboration and communications for event time activations, during and off curling season, customer service and support for membership during league seasons.
Responsibilities
· Front facing customer service for our members and facility rental clients, providing a variety of support services with professionalism and courtesy, which would include:
o Attend to member inquiries, registration or other needs as they come in person or by telephone;
o Provide membership support for curling league registrations, bookings and access information.
· In collaboration with the Coordinators for, Curling, Events and Events Delivery & Administration, provide hands on support of events for set up, event time client support, and post event takedown.
· Ensure all aspects of operational government requirements are met for building usage and capacity guidelines and restrictions.
· Work with the General Manager and other identified staff to maintain facility requirements and delivery needs to help grow the facility event business, as well as ensure all client needs are met.
· Support volunteer efforts for club events and activities in tandem with administrative staff.
Qualifications
· Proven experience in office administration and customer service, preferably in a not-for-profit, sport, or recreation-based organization.
· Excellent communication and organization skills, both verbal and written.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency with office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and familiarity with online website and registration systems (Curling Club Manager).
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate club events and programming.
· Familiarity with Curling or recreational athletics would be an asset, but not required.
· A vulnerable sector check will be required as a condition of employment.
