RESPONSIBILITIES
- Driving SGH’s company van to meet vendors and donors, to collect food and items for use in SGH programs
- Responsible for safe and timely transport of items while delivering great customer service and communication with food services team
- Monitoring incoming requests for deliveries, and planning routes and scheduling deliveries to ensure timely service and low downtime
- Loading, transporting and unloading items safely and in a timely manner
- Coordinating vehicle use and maintenance, including completing daily inspections, reporting issues and assisting with seasonal preparations for vehicles
- Delivering meals from 216 Murray St (downtown production kitchen) to our supportive housing programs across Ottawa
- Oversee the wash, rinse and sanitize process of dishware, glassware, cutlery and other kitchen items
- Operating and maintaining dishwashing equipment; reporting equipment issues or safety concerns to management
- Supporting the food services team to maintain effective kitchen operations which include:
- Maintaining overall cleanliness in the kitchen space (including trash removal, sweeping and mopping floors)
- Supporting with basis kitchen prep
- Assisting with cleaning kitchen equipment and other deep cleaning initiatives
- Supporting in the receiving, organizing and inventorying of food and supply orders
- Working as a part of an interdisciplinary team of Chefs, volunteers, and frontline workers to support food production, food service to guests/residents, and overall kitchen cleanliness
- Ensure health and safety standards for proper food handling
- Additional duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- No prior experience required; training to be provided. However, previous kitchen, cleaning and driving experience is considered an asset
- To be eligible for van driving role candidate must be hold a valid driver’s license and insurance, be at least 25 years of age and be able to produce a current and clean driver’s abstract.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
- Strong attention to detail to cleanliness and organization
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams is considered an asset
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Able to read text and communicate orally in English. Ability to communicate in other languages is considered an asset.
- For successful candidates: A recent vulnerable sector check completed at maximum 3 months prior to employment offer.
- Health and Safety Training completed during onboarding and updated annually.
