Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled asphalt rakeman / lead hand who is looking to expand their talents to all aspects of municipal infrastructure work and join our culvert, and excavation crews. The successful candidate will be skilled on the asphalt rake and be willing to perform all of the tasks associated with roadbuilding, culvert installations, catch basins, concrete sidewalk prep, etc. Currently we are doing about one day of asphalt road cut restoration per week with the rest of the time spent working on the other aspects of construction.

Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of construction sites, including traffic and pedestrian control
- Raking asphalt to fine grades and clean edges
- Perform general labour tasks including digging, lifting, carrying, and material handling
- Support the installation of piping, structural components, and other infrastructure elements in road, sewer and water or related industries
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members
- Assist with site cleanup and organization to maintain a tidy work area
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools is desirable
- Strong understanding of safety procedures in construction environments
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor conditions
- Basic knowledge of road, sewer and water industry standards is a plus
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new skills related to civil construction projects
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Ottawa, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
