Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finishing Coordinator to oversee high-rise construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating finishing activities, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining efficient workflows on-site. This role requires strong analysis skills, construction knowledge, and a keen eye for quality control and inspection to ensure project excellence from start to finish.
Project will be located in Vancouver BC.
Duties
- Coordinate and supervise finishing activities on high-rise construction sites, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Conduct quality inspections and control checks throughout the finishing process to meet project specifications.
- Collect and analyze data related to project progress, materials, and quality metrics to inform decision-making.
- Collaborate with construction teams, subcontractors, and clients to resolve issues promptly and maintain project schedules.
- Perform construction inspections to verify compliance with safety standards, building codes, and design requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, quality assessments, and data collection for project documentation.
- Assist in planning and scheduling finishing tasks to optimize workflow efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards throughout all phases of the project.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Quality Control & Deficiency Management
- Conduct deficiency walkthroughs for all units across Metro Vancouver projects.
- Prepare detailed deficiency checklists and present them to finishing trades for completion.
- Monitor and verify that deficiencies are resolved promptly and to a high-quality standard.
- Prepare and update weekly deficiency reports for management.
Coordination & Communication
- Report daily to the Site Superintendent to ensure schedule and quality targets are met.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Site Superintendent.
- Attend daily morning meetings and contribute input regarding trades and progress.
- Identify and escalate potential issues to the Construction Manager in a timely manner.
Trade & Labour Oversight
- Provide direction to labourers and skilled trades, ensuring tasks meet quality expectations.
- Inspect work performed by trades and address any deficiencies or concerns.
Scheduling & Safety
- Monitor and track schedules prepared by the Site Superintendent to meet project timelines.
- Ensure all staff and contractors maintain a safe working environment in accordance with company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role, focusing on quality control for residential projects.
- Diploma or degree in a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Knowledge of residential wood-frame and/or concrete high-rise construction is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral).
- Proven organizational and time management skills to handle increasing project demands.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficient in MS Office and Outlook; experience with AutoDesk Build or Procore is an asset.
