Our client is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a fleet of highly specialized heavy construction equipment used in deep foundation and ground engineering operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technician who enjoys solving challenging mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues while working on unique equipment such as rotary drilling rigs, hydraulic cranes, diaphragm wall clamshells, grout plants, and advanced computer-controlled systems. Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and emergency repairs on a fleet of specialized heavy foundation and construction equipment, including drilling rigs, cranes, clamshells, grout plants, and high-pressure pumping systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and computer-controlled system issues using advanced troubleshooting techniques and diagnostic tools.
- Read, interpret, and utilize hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical schematics to support efficient repairs and equipment maintenance.
- Provide on-site technical support, repairs, and guidance to field crews, ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing operational downtime.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance documentation, and parts inventory tracking while ensuring compliance with company maintenance procedures.
- Collaborate closely with operations, project teams, and equipment managers, and travel to project sites throughout Ontario as required to support field operations.
Qualifications
- Licensed Heavy Duty Equipment Technician required; Red Seal Journeyperson certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment in both shop and field service environments.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, cranes, drilling equipment, pumps, and other heavy construction machinery.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic, electrical, and computer-controlled monitoring systems with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and maintenance software, combined with strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Valid driver's license, ability to travel to project sites across Ontario, capability to lift up to 25 kg (50 lbs), and sufficient mobility to safely access and work on heavy equipment in both shop and field environments.
Pay: $48 – 55 per/hour
Located in Hamilton, Ontario
Overt-time available, and some travel involved around the GTA (vehicle allowance and KM's)
