Part-Time Payroll & HR Coordinator (Payroll-Focused)

Our client, a well-established manufacturing organization in the Waterloo Region, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Part-Time Payroll & HR Coordinator to lead payroll operations while supporting key Human Resources activities across Canadian and U.S. locations.
This role is ideal for an organized and dependable professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys owning the payroll function from end to end. Payroll expertise will be the primary focus of this position, with HR responsibilities supporting overall employee operations. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership and play a key role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll processing.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll (Primary Focus)
- Manage bi-weekly payroll processing for Canadian and U.S. employees
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, exceptions, and adjustments
- Process bonus, incentive, and retroactive payments
- Prepare payroll journal entries and payroll-related management reports
- Support year-end payroll balancing, reconciliations, and reporting activities
- Maintain payroll records and ensure data accuracy within the HRIS system
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, employment standards, and company policies
- Support internal and external audit requirements related to payroll
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiencies
Human Resources (Secondary Focus)
- Support employee onboarding activities and HR administration
- Maintain employee records and documentation
- Assist with day-to-day HR processes and employee support activities
- Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll experience required
- Previous Human Resources experience is considered an asset
- An accounting background is considered a strong asset
- Experience processing payroll for multiple locations is preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage highly confidential information with discretion
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and team members
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with HRIS systems; ADP experience is considered a strong asset
Education
- High School Diploma required
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is considered an asset
