Job Title - Peer Support Worker for Employment Pathways in Substance Use Recovery Program
Key Responsibilities
- Assist program lead with training opportunities, developing skills and career goals, referrals to other community agencies and services, follow ups with clients and employers
- Identify barriers to employment and assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing résumés and preparing for job interviews
- Perform administrative tasks
- Contact and develop working relationships with existing and new employers
- Advise employers on human resource and other employment-related issues
- Act as a Peer Coach for clients, and facilitate group sessions
- Administer and tests designed to determine the interests, aptitudes and abilities of clients
- Collect labour market information for clients regarding job openings, entry and skill requirements and other occupational information
- Provide established workers with information and strategies for dealing with job dissatisfaction, making mid-career changes and adjusting to workplace transitions
- Provide established workers with information and strategies for maintaining a job or moving within an organization
- Provide consulting services to community groups and agencies, businesses, industry and other organizations involved in providing community-based career planning support or resources
PLEASE READ REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
- Required - Lived personal experience with substance use disorder, with at least one year in recovery.
- Diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Marketing, Business Administration or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal, and communication skills, with experience in employer outreach and relationship management.
- Experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation, or workforce development considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the local labour market and employer needs.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient with MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Word.
