We are currently seeking an experienced Asphalt Paving Foreman to lead our paving crew on commercial, municipal, and industrial projects.
Position Summary
The Asphalt Paving Foreman is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all aspects of asphalt paving operations while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to specification.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise asphalt paving crews on commercial and municipal projects.
- Coordinate daily work activities with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings and field-level hazard assessments.
- Ensure all work meets project specifications, grade, slope, thickness, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate paver, roller, skid steer, loader, and haul truck operations.
- Monitor asphalt temperatures, compaction, and overall paving quality.
- Read and interpret drawings, grades, and construction specifications.
- Order materials and coordinate deliveries to maximize productivity.
- Complete daily reports, time sheets, equipment logs, and production records.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Enforce company policies, Alberta OHS legislation, and all safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of asphalt paving experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Foreman or Crew Lead.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and municipal asphalt construction.
- Experience operating and directing paving equipment.
- Ability to read plans, grades, and project specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (clean driver’s abstract preferred).
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and occasional night shifts when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- CSTS 2020
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- WHMIS
- First Aid Certification
- Traffic Control or Temporary Traffic Accommodation experience
