Working as part of the Donation Centre team, the Driver/Mover operates one of the WINS fleet of trucks. They pick up individual and corporate/retail donations, transfer donations/inventory between WINS locations and deliver inventory/free goods to WINS clients and customers.
The Driver/Mover ensures the donation/delivery experience is positive for WINS donors, clients, and customers and is responsible for ensuring that assigned driving routes are completed in a timely and safe fashion.
We are looking for someone with open availability - 7:30am-4:00pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
Receiving Donations (when Driving or in the Donations Centre)

Positively and kindly greet donors and provide them with a safe, cheerful, and thanks-filled donation experience

Evaluate items for donation and make decisions on whether offered donations are acceptable. Communicate to donors regarding any unacceptable items in a kind and respectful manner

Work with the Inventory Associates and Moving Associates to unload donations from trucks from donor pick-ups

Gather information for tax receipt purposes, confirm with the donor, and provide to Manager - Inventory
Property and Product Care
Carefully and efficiently move product from pick-up locations onto trucks and off of trucks to delivery locations, being respectful of the property of donors, clients, customers, and WINS
Stack and secure items on trucks to ensure safe and undamaged transportation to their destination
Driving and Truck Maintenance
Safely and efficiently drive to pick-ups and deliveries
Clean/wash the interior and exterior of the truck cab, box, and body on a weekly basis
Ensure trip long reports are accurately completed and submitted at the end of each day
Report all maintenance concerns and issues to management as soon as the issue is noticed
Delivering Client and Customer Orders
WINS Inter-location Transfers
Act as an ambassador for WINS both on and off the job
Maintain excellent donor, employee, and volunteer relations through positive, kind, and professional interactions with others
Maintain ongoing communication with management on any issues or concerns
Health & Safety and Industrial Hygiene
Drive safely and defensively, and never drive while impaired
Positively engage in and comply with all WINS health & safety practices, procedures, and policies
Maintain a safe working area for all employees, donors, clients, and customers by ensuring trucks and immediate surrounding are clear of clutter
Donations Centre (When not Driving)
Assist with efficient and consistent initial rough sort of donations (ex: clothing, household, electrical, seasonal, etc.) and transfer incoming goods to appropriate Sort Team workstations
Safely bale recyclables and disposal items; store recycled and disposals safely until pick-up or delivery

Ensure flow of goods through the Sort areas by providing full rough-sort bulk bins and removing empty bulk bins from the Sort areas

Remove sorted and graded product from the Sort areas as needed to storage, recycle or disposal
Ensure that donations/inventory is stored in the correct locations and properly counted and tracked
Remove recycle and disposal items in conjunction with WINS selected contractor or, where necessary, directly to landfill
Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Personal/ Professional Attributes
Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and an acceptable current minimum 2-year Driver’s abstract
Able to correctly and safely lift a minimum of 50lbs/23kg individually, and 100lbs/45kg as part of a team, on a routine, consistent, and regular basis
An understanding of and affinity for the WINS brand, mission, and role with our clients, customers, and community
Provide satisfactory results from a Vulnerable Sector Search background check with the Calgary Police Service
Effective communication skills including proficiency in verbal and written English
Familiar with transportation routes and communities in the City of Calgary; navigation skills using a road map and/or GPS
A welcoming and empathetic demeanor with an ability to build and maintain positive relationships
Excellent client/customer/donor service orientation
Flexibility to comply with a work schedule with shifts throughout the week
Able to stand for long periods of time
Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Work-ready with CSA approved steel-toed safety boots
