Assistant Store Manager – Global Pet Foods Bank Street
Position Summary
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of the store, ensuring exceptional customer service, strong sales performance, and a clean, organized, and well-stocked shopping environment. This role helps lead and develop the store team while promoting Global Pet Foods’ commitment to pet health, nutrition, and customer education.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
- Deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.
- Assist customers with product selection, pet nutrition guidance, and general pet care recommendations.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Promote loyalty programs, special promotions, and community events.
Store Operations
- Support the daily opening and closing of the store.
- Ensure shelves are stocked, faced, and accurately priced.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through receiving, merchandising, stock rotation, and cycle counts.
- Ensure store cleanliness and compliance with company standards.
- Assist with merchandising displays and seasonal promotions.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and support team members during assigned shifts.
- Assist with employee training, coaching, and performance development.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure operational goals are achieved.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
- Act as Manager-on-Duty when the Store Manager is unavailable.
Sales & Performance
- Help achieve sales, margin, and operational targets.
- Monitor key performance indicators and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Encourage add-on sales and educate customers on premium pet nutrition and wellness products.
- Support initiatives that increase customer retention and repeat business.
Health & Safety
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe work environment for employees and customers.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of products.
- Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- Previous retail supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Experience in the pet retail industry is considered an asset.
- Passion for pets and a willingness to learn about pet nutrition and wellness.
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Comfortable using point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and stocking merchandise.
