About us: Quinte Transit was founded in 1989 by a group of volunteers with a single vision; to provide a service that would allow clients an opportunity to participate in their communities. We currently operate specialized services in 3 municipalities, in addition to 4 fixed transit routes in the city of Trenton. Recent expansion has included the addition of 4 intercity regional transportation routes servicing QW, PEC, Brighton and Belleville.
About you: You are a self-starting, organized and charismatic employee with good customer service abilities, and People have told you that you’re great with people. You love helping others and you take pride in the work that you do. You enjoy interacting with new people, and find the ability to work in an engaging environment to be something that suits you. You are a natural communicator, and your problem solving abilities allow you to work well independently.
Your role: We’re looking for paratransit and fixed route transit operators to cover a 3 month contract. The starting pay we offer is $20.69 per hour. This contract will cover an existing vacancy, with a primary schedule of Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Our drivers are responsible for ensuring that we are providing the best possible experience for our clients and guests, while also being responsible for the safety, security and comfort of the clients we transport.
Requirements:
- An F class license. E, C or B class license is preferred. Those with G class licenses are welcome to apply.
- A minimum 2 years of customer service experience operating commercial vehicles OR minimum 2 years’ experience in operating a transit bus, charter bus or other such specialized bus.
- A clean driver’s abstract, with fewer than 3 demerit points in the last 3 years.
- A satisfactory criminal background record check with vulnerable sector screening, to be completed when hired.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily vehicle workaround’s ensuring that all safety equipment is functioning and vehicle is operational by MTO standards.
- Shall ensure that end of day paperwork is accurate, and is completed/submitted on time.
- Drivers will complete work in accordance with, and stay up to date on all company policies and procedures, as well as any relevant regulatory compliance. Including MTO and HTA requirements.
Location: Quinte Transit’s vehicle facility is based in Trenton, Ontario. Services are provided within the municipalities of Quinte West, Brighton and Prince Edward County. Charters and other trips may require trips outside of these municipalities.
