Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Apprentice Carpenter in their 3rd and 4th year to join our construction team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop advanced carpentry skills while gaining hands-on experience in a variety of projects in the mass timber sector . The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in carpentry and related trades, with the ability to work safely and efficiently on diverse job sites. This paid position is designed to support your growth as a professional carpenter, with mentorship from experienced tradespeople.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation of glulam beams, CLT, traditional timber frames and light wood framing.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment safely and effectively.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to execute project plans accurately.
- Support the installation of flooring, roofing, framing, and other structural components during new construction projects.
- Participate in heavy lifting and material handling to ensure efficient workflow on-site.
- Follow safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and to specifications.
- Contribute to site cleanup and organization to uphold high standards of safety and efficiency.
Requirements
- MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL. We service BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
- Currently enrolled in or completing the 3rd or 4th year of an apprenticeship program in carpentry or related trades.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems, schematics, blueprint reading, and construction techniques.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation and flooring installation is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and work at heights or in confined spaces as required.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to construction sites.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks over extended periods in various weather conditions. This position provides valuable experience for those committed to advancing their careers in construction and carpentry while contributing to meaningful projects across diverse settings.
Pay: $29.00-$33.00 per hour
