Job duties for this position include:
- Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day activities of warehouse, inventory, shipping, receiving, and distribution staff.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure that lens products, raw materials, and packaging supplies are available to meet production and customer requirements.
- Schedule and oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of inventory to ensure efficient store and warehouse operations.
- Use state-of-the-art optical lens production management software to monitor inventory of over 50,000 SKU’s
- Review and coordinate incoming shipments.
- Address shipment discrepancies with suppliers and carriers.
- Ensure customer orders are processed accurately and shipped within established timelines.
- Work closely with the production team to support manufacturing schedules and maintain the uninterrupted flow of materials.
- Assist in forecasting inventory requirements and coordinating procurement activities to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Maintain inventory records and prepare reports related to stock levels, shipments, and supply chain performance.
- Prepare purchase orders for various types of lenses and optical materials.
- Train, support, and supervise staff, providing guidance on company procedures, workplace safety, and operational best practices.
- Monitor employee performance and assist management with scheduling and workflow planning.
- Implement and maintain inventory control procedures to improve accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with transportation providers and logistics partners to ensure timely delivery of products across North America.
- Communicate with a wide range of suppliers internationally and locally to ensure smooth deliveries and quality standards.
- Communicate with customers in the event of delivery delays or missing parcels.
- Investigate shipping, inventory, and operational issues and develop practical solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards, company policies, and quality assurance procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity, customer service, and supply chain effectiveness.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience in customer services and supervisory roles in the optical lens manufacturing industry;
- Thorough knowledge of optical lenses, optical materials, and eyeglass manufacturing processes.
- Very good understanding of the specific nature of the optical industry from end user to raw material supplier.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of optical inventory management and production management software.
- Good communication skills, positive attitude to work and people management skills;
- Ideal applicant must be available to work on any scheduled, rotational or call in shifts which includes weekends, early morning and late evening shifts
- Able to work under pressure and time constraint in fast paced environment;
- Strong organisation and problem-solving abilities
