Loving family moving to Oshawa (Harmony and King) area seeking a qualified RPN and/or RN to accompany eight year old medically-fragile child to school.
Ideal start date for training is September 1st, 2026. With a start date at school on Wednesday September 9, 2026. The family is looking for two (2) candidates and who can work collaboratively.

General Requirements:
- Nursing degree (RN) from a recognized university or diploma (RPN) from a recognized college
- Current RN or RPN registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Fluency in English
- Clinical competence and current knowledge base through continued education and lifelong learning.
- Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

- $25,000 in Abuse Liability in relation to actual or threatened sexual, physical, psychological, mental and/or emotional abuse, molestation or harassment, including corporal punishment (Insurance premiums must be paid by nurse)
- Technologically competent and own a computer/tablet or phone for communication and charting
- Understanding and competency of Google Drive, Google Docs and Airtable
Specific Client Requirements
- Physical ability and willingness to lift client in and out of the bed, and up and down stairs as necessary. (Client is able to walk but require assistance on the stairs).
- Physical ability and willingness to transport the client and the client's equipment to and from the vehicle as necessary.
- Tracheostomy care
- GTube Feeding
- Oral Feeding
- Personal care
- Medicine administration
- Integration of speech, occupational and physiotherapy plans into general care
- Involvement in family team meetings with school interdisciplinary team
- Awareness of and support with client's learning plan
- Assistance with medical equipment cleaning/maintenance medical supply inventory and monitoring (during shifts when client is at home)
Preferred/Optional Skills/Background
- Tracheostomy and GTube Experience
- Experience in acute care setting, preferably in an intensive care unit or an emergency department.
- Summer Camp or daycare experience
- Experience implementing behavioural plans/strategies
- Reliable access to a vehicle

Current Schedule
Weekdays: 7:00am–3:00pm
Up to 5 shifts per two-week period, typically 2–3 shifts per week.
There will be other occasional shifts scheduled based on patient/family needs and if nurse is available. Family may also need additional support to cover night shifts when night nurses are ill or on vacation. There are potential opportunities for travel if interested. All of these additional opportunities are based on nurses' availability
Please note, shifts will not typically be cancelled due to client illness. The shifts will just be completed in the home or hospital if an admission is necessary. The nurse is expected to continue private duty care between 7am - 3:00pm regardless of location.
In addition to our core nurses, family is also open to hiring another nurse who would be interested in being trained and working casual shifts and covering the primary nurses when they are ill or on vacation.
Compensation
Job Type: Part -Time Contract
Contract Dates - Approximately September 1st, 2026 to June 29, 2027
Nurses will be onboarded to an agency that contracts workers to work with family.
Hourly Rate:
$35.00/hour (RN)
$30.00/hour (RPN)

- Any parking incurred for hospital, appointment, or occasional shifts will be reimbursed by the family.

- Respiratory Infection – Safety Protocols
- Nurses are required to wear a mask when the client has a respiratory infection or when otherwise directed based on the client's health needs.
- Nurses are expected to wash or sanitize their hands frequently and use gloves for tracheostomy suctioning and other tracheostomy-related care, as well as diaper changes.
- Nurses are responsible for providing their own masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and gowns as required.
- Additional PPE requirements may be introduced depending on the client's health needs or the nature of the illness.
