We are now inviting outstanding candidates to fill the position of Assistant Director at our new Blackfalds center. We expect a competent and all-rounded leader to make our team continue to strive. This candidate should possess excellent management skills, leadership skills, and profound knowledge of early childhood education. Abilities to ensure the smooth daily operation of the daycare, maintain the environment of the daycare premises, form a liaison between the program, parents, and staff are a must. With certain years of experience in childcare, this candidate should have the ability to provide staff with professional advice concerning early childhood education as well. Responsibility:
The Assistant Director has the following responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operation of the daycare
- Assist educators in the classrooms when needed
- provide staff with professional advice regarding postive guidance strategies
- Develop and maintain effective communications and cooperation with all stakeholders, including staff, parents and the head office
- Keep current and maintain accurate external records of governing bodies to ensure that current rules and regulations are understood, maintained, and recorded for optimal running of the center
- Record all aspects of operation of the daycare in documents
- implement and reinforce policies and procedures in Staff & Parent Handbooks
- Develop and maintain a safe, inviting, and age-appropriate environments in all rooms
- Ensure that appropriate guidance is given to children in all age groups
- Meet and greet new families with the utmost use of interpersonal skills in order to learn as much as possible about the child and family
- Substitute in rooms to ensure the optimal running of the center
Qualifications:
The candidate is expected to meet the following requirements:
- Early Childhood Educator Certification Level 3
- A minimum of 5-year experience in childcare, experience in leadership role preferred
- Strong knowledge of the licensing act and regulations
- Strong knowledge of the Alberta curriculum framework, FLIGHT
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Relevant experience and training in special needs childcare preferred
- Knowledge of implementing cultural diversity policy preferred
- knowledge of promoting inclusive education preferred
- High proficiency in documentation
- Ability to maintain the program in a well-organized manner
- Ability to meet deadlines, and manage time effectively
- Ability to build a team with strong team spirit and cooperation
- Have a positive and professional attitude consistently
- Must share the value of the daycare during its growth and carry out policies and strategies as instructed by the daycare supervisor and managing director
- Valid first aid training
- Criminal Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
