We are currently seeking an experienced National Collections Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position, Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm out of our Calgary or Dartmouth office (preferred) or other locations may be considered.
Reporting to the National Credit Manager, the position will be responsible for collections of overdue national accounts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, compliance to meet individual/team targets and enjoy working as part of a dynamic team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform collections on assigned portfolio of overdue accounts, communicating discrepancies with management to identify and recommend high risk accounts and external collection candidates
- Maintain and foster strong relationships with key customers, offering professional and effective solutions
- Update and record notes based on agreed payment terms and key aspects of customer interactions
- Reconcile customer accounts, monitor, and allocate unapplied cash, investigate charge backs, and short payments
- Monitor and maintain up to date records for client accounts and review accounts in arrears to ensure appropriate actions are taken
- Professionally handle customer inquiries, including providing detailed customer reconciliation and statements as required, resolving payment disputes and processing refunds
- Provide support to accounts receivable team with routine tasks and assist in projects to support accounting function as required
- Occasionally process invoices through customer Portals
- Produce ad hoc reports related to A/R as requested
Requirements:
- Diploma in Business Administration (Accounting or Finance Concentration) or similar post-secondary training
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ full cycle collections experience working with high value national accounts
- Detail orientated with the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Highly effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and key performance indicators
- Ability to resolve complex situations with good judgement and diplomacy
- Experience with computerized accounting systems and knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required
- Experience working with customer Portals
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team-orientated environment
