Role Description
This is a hands-on role working directly with the principal Professional Engineer, with full exposure to the project lifecycle from scoping through closeout. The successful candidate will contribute to design and assessment work, conduct site supervision, and participate in client meetings under the principal’s review and mentorship. Work split is approximately 60 to 70 percent office and 30 to 40 percent field, with field-heavy periods during the construction season.
Responsibilities
- Site supervision and inspections for civil and infrastructure projects
- Field reviews, condition assessments, and inspection reports
- Engineering calculations and design using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other software
- Preparation of engineering reports, inspection reports, and assessment letters
- Coordination with clients, contractors, and subconsultants
- Support for proposals, project documentation, and quality control
Qualifications
- Civil engineering degree from a CEAB-accredited Canadian program
- Registered Engineer-in-Training with APEGA, or eligible to register
- 0 to 3 years of post-graduate engineering experience
- Construction site experience (summer student, co-op, or post-graduate)
- AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written English; able to communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and the public on site
- Valid Alberta driver’s licence and reliable personal vehicle
- Adaptable to a small-firm environment with varied responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with bridges or culverts
- Experience with municipal infrastructure
- Building rehabilitation or structural assessment experience
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $68,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience
- Health Spending Account: $2,500 annually
- Two weeks vacation, accrued through the year
- Mileage reimbursement at CRA rates

- Direct mentorship from the principal Professional Engineer; defined path toward P.Eng. licensure
