We are a growing manufacturing company looking for a junior Manufacturing Designer to join our team in Kelowna. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with SolidWorks experience who enjoys a fast-paced environment, a wide variety of projects, and the opportunity to see their designs move from concept to finished product.
Our work ranges from aluminum boats and truck accessories to custom fabrication projects and stainless steel assemblies. No two days are exactly the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys solving problems and continuously learning new skills.
As part of a small and growing team, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on projects while working closely with engineering, production, and management to bring designs to life.
What You'll Do
- Create and modify 3D models using SolidWorks
- Produce detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings
- Generate CNC router programs and nest parts for efficient material utilization
- Prepare material takeoffs and support material ordering
- Collaborate with production to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
- Optimize designs and processes for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
- Assist with design revisions and production support as projects evolve
- Continuously improve workflows and manufacturing methods
Qualifications
Required
- Experience using SolidWorks in a design or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with:
- Sheet Metal
- Weldments
- Direct Editing
- Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and fabrication methods
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
Preferred
- Approximately 2 years of SolidWorks experience
- Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma or related education
- Experience with CNC programming and nesting software
- Familiarity with AlphaCAM
- Experience with other CAD/CAM software packages
- Understanding of G-code programming
- Experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
Manufacturing Experience Considered an Asset
