OVERALL PURPOSE:
The Vehicle Labourer will assist the Technicians and Service persons in the repair, maintenance and servicing of the vehicle department support equipment, (excluding SSV, NRV and SST) maintenance facility, shop cleanup and other related duties in accordance with industry standards, approved work practice and procedures.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works under the direction of a Supervisor, Technician or Serviceperson to accomplish scheduled or unscheduled maintenance in the vehicle department.
Performs cleanup and general shop maintenance.
Operates BCRTC NRV with a valid Class 5 driver’s license
Use hand and power tools where required and directed for basic vehicle department support equipment maintenance.
Attend technical and safety training as required.
Responds to emergencies in accordance with established procedures through immediate response and quick action.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
As per WorkSafeBC regulations, this job requires an annual fit test and may necessitate the use of a respirator. In either case, the employee must be clean shaven. Any exemption requests should be raised to Occupational Health and/or Labour Relations for consideration.
