PLC Technician
Shift: 3 Shift Rotation
Pay: $40-$46 per hour
Location: Oshawa area
Duration: Full Time Permanent
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and controls.
- Prepare and revise electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of electrical equipment.
- Conduct electrical calculations and equipment sizing.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and company requirements.
- Support PLC, HMI, VFD, and industrial network troubleshooting.
- Assist with programming modifications and control system improvements.
- Participate and lead automation projects to improve productivity and equipment reliability.
- Support commissioning of new automation systems and upgrades.
- Investigate equipment failures and identify root causes.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
- Maintain electrical equipment records, drawings, and maintenance documentation.
- Assist in developing spare parts strategies for critical electrical components.
- Maintain and set up industrial computer systems
- Coordinate electrical projects from planning through implementation.
- Participate and lead new automation projects
- Assist with managing contractor activities as required.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, utilities, or automation environments.
- Licensed Electrician (442A or 309A)
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting and industrial control systems.
- Experience supporting equipment installations preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems (24V–600V).
- Experience with PLCs such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider.
- Familiarity with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial networking.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design software.
- Strong Microsoft Office and CMMS skills.
- Strong experience with industrial computer systems
- Strong troubleshooting experience on PLC’s, VFD’s and industrial control systems
- Strong experience with industrial communication systems such as ethernet/IP, MODBUS and CANBUS.
- Experience with RS Logix, RS Linx, and other industrial communication software
