About the Role
Olympic Wholesale is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to oversee the daily transportation and delivery operations of our cold chain logistics network. This position is vital to ensuring the safe, timely, and cost-effective distribution of products while maintaining compliance with regulatory and food safety standards.
The successful candidate will lead a team of drivers and dispatch personnel, manage routing and scheduling, monitor fleet performance, and enforce internal policies and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations. This role demands strong leadership, operational efficiency, and a customer-first mindset.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversee daily transportation operations, including local routing and dispatch functions
- Supervise a team of unionized drivers and dispatch staff to ensure high levels of performance and compliance
- Train drivers on company policies, safety procedures, and delivery standards
- Schedule and coordinate inbound vendor loads and deliveries
- Manage customer service interactions at the service window, ensuring timely resolution of issues
- Ensure strict compliance with MTO regulations, internal SOPs, and transportation safety policies
- Monitor fleet performance and delivery metrics to ensure on-time, accurate shipments
- Address and resolve customer and driver concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Enforce and contribute to the ongoing development of HACCP and food safety protocols
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in logistics or transportation is an asset)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations
- At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in a unionized environment
- Strong understanding of cold chain logistics, transportation regulations, and safety compliance
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Experience using dispatching and routing software systems considered an asset
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with transportation software and route optimization tools
- Knowledge of HACCP, MTO, and other applicable food safety or transportation regulations
- Experience working in a unionized environment
