Cheesemaking Assistant
Schedule:
Early mornings, evening work, daytime shifts, weekends
Approximately 30-40 hours a week
Cheesemaking Assistant Duties Include:
- Cleaning (operating industrial dishwasher, washing delicate pieces by hand, cleaning large pieces of equipment through out the day)
- Washing light industrial equipment with foaming cleanser and brush
- Sanitizing workspace and equipment
- Cheese quality control and learning different aging processes
- Setting up production equipment
- Following food safety program
- Following workplace safety program
- Safe chemical handling practices
- Ability to lift 50lbs and work on your feet
- Learning to make cheese and butter
About the job:
As a Cheesemaking Assistant you will be involved in each step in the life cycle of our cheese, with a particular focus on cleaning and sanitation.
You will be a part of the small team responsible for making all the different varieties of cheese we produce, time management and a hard working attitude are a must. You should feel comfortable working independently and using light industrial equipment including cleaning systems and a butter churn, or willing to learn these skills.
You should also have food safety and sanitary food handling skills; milk and cheese are highly susceptible to contamination and we must always be mindful of all critical control points in our processes.

Pay: $18.25-$21.00 per hour
