Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our truck shop team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automotive repair and heavy equipment maintenance, with the ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines and related systems. This role involves working on a variety of machinery including trucks, excavators, cranes, and farm equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. The Diesel Mechanic will utilize a broad range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills to maintain and repair industrial equipment efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on diesel engines and heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Conduct inspections using schematics and technical manuals to identify issues accurately
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools to execute repairs
- Operate heavy equipment for testing purposes when necessary
- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and service performed
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical problems
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and industry regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or in automotive repair with dealership experience preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, industrial equipment, and heavy machinery
- Proficiency with schematics, electrical systems, HVAC systems, welding, and assembly processes
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or similar machinery
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work with hand tools and power tools effectively
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and engine troubleshooting techniques
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills are a plus for interacting with clients or team members
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
