Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Lumber Estimator to join our sales team, experience with post frame buildings considered an asset. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of lumber and related materials for various building projects. Your expertise will help ensure projects stay within budget while maintaining high-quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with project managers, suppliers, and clients to deliver precise and competitive bids that drive project success.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine material requirements and scope of work.
- Utilize estimating software to prepare detailed cost estimates for lumber and framing materials.
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers and vendors to secure the best possible rates while ensuring quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with project management teams to develop accurate project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of costs, quantities, and schedules.
- Conduct site visits when necessary to assess project conditions and verify material needs.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, supplier quotes, and project documentation for future reference.
Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks and other estimating software tools.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from suppliers.
- Excellent project management abilities to coordinate multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Deep understanding of construction estimating principles and practices within the building industry.
- Extensive construction experience, particularly in framing or lumber-related projects.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with clients, vendors, and team members.
Starting wage is based on experience and qualifications.
