Job Title: Brewer & Cellar Person
Wage: Commensurate with Experience + Benefits
Reports to: Director(s) / Owner(s)
Status: Permanent PT Hourly Position, with opportunity to move to Permanent FT employment, after Probationary period.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None at this time.
Summary: As the Brewer & Cellar Person with A-FRAME you are have a desire to learn and grow with a company in regard to production of our Beers and Non Alcoholic program along side a Head Brewer and a group of contract brewers. You have a minimum of 1+ years’ experience in a similar role of Brewer, or Assistant Brewer or as a cellar hand and or Packaging person. You are friendly, fun, self-motivated, honest, approachable, organized, passionate, and hardworking. You take extra attention to details, are empowered to learn the ‘ins and outs’ of beer production, while maintaining a clean and safe production facility. Flexibility in your schedule to complete your job function is required when necessary. As the Brewer & Cellar Person you must be able to attend required staff meetings, including some operational meetings and training where applicable.
With guidance from our Director and Head Brewer, the Brewer & Cellar Person will:
- Be responsible for the day to day upkeep of the production facility
- This would include but limited to, Equipment Cleaning, Line cleaning, faucets cleaning/upkeep, coupler cleaning/up keep.
- You are responsible for communicating and consulting with ownership for their understanding and feedback on above operations.
- Will learn or contribute to the creation and organization of Brew sheets for each brew, costing sheets associated with the production of any and all of A-FRAME Brewing Co’s products and saving them all to the Shared file locations.
- be responsible, with the he, for the QC program at A-FRAME Brewing Co, recording data and ready to make changes should changes be required after discussions with Director
- Physically Brew the beers when ready.
- When ready, you will be responsible for the recipe creation of beer style going to productions and the subsequent brewing of said beer.
- Organize the grain, mash in, following processes.
- Cellaring program of the beers post brew day
- package the beers. This will include being ready for the mobile Canning company, being on the pack out line for the canning machine, Keg cleaning and filling.
- Work with ownership to design and execute new Non Alc program or A-FRAME
- This could be but not limited to our own juice program, and the addition of items like nitro coffee or hop water.
- Creating a Maintenance program / interval checks of equipment that will be the responsibility of Head Brewer & the assistant brewer to follow through.
- Are results orientated, with analytical skills and the ability to think quick on your feet and solve problems.
- Effectively communicate clearly, concisely and respectfully.
- Safety minded, looking out for ones self and others.
- Willing and open to take direction and follow through on completion of tasks with “by-whens”
Qualifications
- Are at least 19 years of age, the legal drinking age as required by the province of British Columbia, Canada
- Hold a valid driver license
- Possess a valid Province of British Columbia approved Serving It Right certification
- Have a minimum of 1+ years experience in the brewery industry as a brewer, assistant brewer or cellar person.
- Possess basic math skills.
- Are physically able to stand on your feet for the duration of your shift and able to safely lift a maximum of 50lbs; enlisting support for heavier amounts. You must also declare any injuries or illnesses that may prevent your ability to perform you job.
- Are punctual and accountable with reliable attendance.
- Have basic computer skills and knowledge.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Serving It Right Certificate
- First Aid an asset
