The opportunity:
FXR, the global leader in snowmobile and motocross apparel and protective equipment is seeking a skilled industrial sewing machine operator at our head office in Oak Bluff, MB. FXR's in-house production department is a small, close knit team of skilled individuals who work collaboratively in support of FXR's design and product development team in the creation of FXR's high performance, quality power sports products. FXR offers an excellent work environment that is clean, well-lit and equipped with high quality equipment.
Reporting to the In-House Production Manager, sewing machine operators are expected to have detailed knowledge of patterns and garment construction. Their primary responsibility is to ensure high-quality stitching with a variety of textiles and fabrics to meet production deadlines and customer expectations. Sewers also assist in troubleshooting garment design and fit issues to get samples ready to send to production.
Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who prides themselves in their sewing ability, their sound understanding of construction and quality. The individual can deliver results with minimum direction and under tight time requirements. The individual is also very personable and has a sincere desire to be a collaborative member of the team.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of sewing experience is required
- Must have experience on industrial flat machine, serger, double needle and flatlock/cover stitch machines
- Demonstrated ability to assemble garments in sample sewing
- Demonstrated ability to sew a complete garment with industrial machines
- Demonstrated ability to sew with different types of fabric
- Some product knowledge or prior experience with outdoor apparel is an asset
- Exceptional fine motor skills and manual dexterity are required to manipulate all types of fabrics from heavy canvas to rubber and lightweight jersey materials.
- Self motivated – enjoys making garments
- Works well in a team environment and/or independently
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to read, write and speak English
