About the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation
Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to protecting, enhancing, and connecting people with Metro Vancouver’s incredible regional parks. Through community partnerships, fundraising, education, and stewardship, the Foundation helps ensure these natural spaces remain accessible, healthy, and inspiring for generations to come.
The Foundation also supports CTS Youth Society, a charitable organization that delivers free environmental leadership and summer camp programs for youth ages 12–18 throughout Metro Vancouver Regional Parks, helping young people build confidence, leadership skills, and a lifelong connection to nature.
Position Summary
Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation is seeking a creative, organized, and passionate Marketing & Media Communications Coordinator to join our team on a one-year maternity leave contract.
This part-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys spending time outdoors, creating engaging social media content, capturing stunning photography and video, and using creative communications to connect communities with nature. Working closely with the Executive Director, you’ll help showcase the impact of both the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation and CTS Youth Society while supporting fundraising campaigns, events, stewardship projects, and youth programming.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Creation
- Plan, create, and schedule engaging content across social media platforms for both Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation and CTS Youth Society.
- Write compelling captions, stories, and campaign messaging.
- Monitor social media trends and recommend creative content ideas.
- Respond to comments and messages as needed.
Photography & Videography
- Capture photo and video content throughout Metro Vancouver Regional Parks.
- Attend Foundation events, stewardship projects, volunteer activities, and CTS Youth Society programs and camps.
- Create and edit short-form videos, reels, and promotional content for digital platforms.
- Maintain an organized library of digital media assets.
Graphic Design
- Design graphics for social media, newsletters, fundraising campaigns, events, presentations, and promotional materials.
- Ensure all materials align with each organization’s brand and visual identity.
Marketing & Fundraising Support
- Assist with fundraising campaigns and donor communications.
- Support marketing initiatives that promote Foundation projects, events, and conservation initiatives.
- Help create content for newsletters, websites, annual reports, and campaign materials.
- Assist with event promotion and campaign planning.
Communications
- Draft media releases, blog posts, impact stories, and other communications.
- Identify storytelling opportunities that highlight conservation work, volunteers, donors, community partners, and youth participants.
- Assist with website updates and digital communications.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience managing social media for a nonprofit, business, or organization.
- Strong photography and videography skills.
- Must provide and maintain personal photography and videography equipment suitable for professional content creation.
- Experience editing video for social media (Instagram Reels, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube)
- Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- A valid BC driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to travel throughout Metro Vancouver Regional Parks and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- A passion for conservation, youth engagement, and community-building.
- Must be willing to complete a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, upon hire, as this position supports programs that work directly with youth.
Assets
Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:
- Meta Business Suite and social media analytics
- Adobe Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, or Illustrator
- WordPress website management
- Email marketing platforms (such as Mailchimp & Keela)
- Nonprofit fundraising or donor communications
- Experience working with youth organizations, camps, or environmental education programs
- Event photography and videography
