Graphic Designer & Sign Production Specialist (Full-Time) FASTSIGNS® Langley-Cloverdale
Location: In-Center — 100% On-Site (Langley City, BC) Status: Full-Time Start Date: September 2026 Pay: $20–$26/hr, based on experience
About Us
FASTSIGNS Langley/Cloverdale is a brand-new, state-of-the-art FASTSIGNS center opening in September 2026, and we're seeking a talented Graphic Designer & Sign Production Specialist to join our team. The role means developing compelling visual designs, running sign production projects from start to finish, and collaborating closely with customers to deliver high-quality signage solutions.
Because we're brand new, we operate with a fast-paced, "all hands on deck" start-up mentality. We're looking for an energetic, versatile, and proactive professional with a strong background in design and a keen eye for aesthetics — someone who wants to help us build our business from the ground up and grow into a bigger role as we grow.
Overview (Read Before Applying!)
This is not a remote, work-from-home, or strictly sit-at-a-desk design agency job. This is a fully on-site, highly active role:
- 60% Hands-On Production — You'll be physically making the signs: weeding vinyl, operating large-format printers and laminators, and mounting graphics.
- 40% Graphic Design — You'll be preparing client files for production and creating layouts.
- Physical Installation — You'll assist with basic physical installations: handling tools, standing on ladders, occasionally working outdoors. (Larger or specialized installations are handled by our outsourced install partner — this role covers smaller interior and ground-level jobs.)
- Start-Up Drive (No Down Time) — In a brand-new shop, when the design queue is quiet, you'll proactively help with organizing the shop, mastering equipment, building showroom samples, or assisting customers.
Benefits and Perks
- Competitive Pay
- Paid Vacation and Holidays
- Performance Bonus
- Ongoing Professional Training Opportunities
- One week of in-person training at FASTSIGNS HQ
- Be a founding team member of a brand-new center!
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Design for Production — Create computer-generated graphics, set up cut paths, establish proper bleeds, match Pantone colors, and prepare files perfectly for output.
- Client Consultation — Work directly with customers — in person, by phone, and by email — to understand their vision and translate it into a produce-able, on-brand sign. When needed, conduct on-site surveys to measure spaces, check mounting surfaces, and take reference photos before finalizing a design.
- Sign Production — Weed, tape, cut, and apply vinyl; laminate and mount prints to various rigid substrates.
- Active Installation — Assist on-site with applying window graphics, mounting wall signs, and other basic physical installs.
- Project & Time Management — Juggle multiple jobs at once while hitting deadlines and keeping quality high.
- "All Hands on Deck" Support — Answer phones, greet walk-in customers, consult on projects, and keep the production floor organized and clean.
- Quality Control — Inspect physical jobs for accuracy before delivery; confirm correct materials and precise machine settings.
Ideal Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- 2–4 years of graphic design experience (sign shop or quick-print environment is a massive plus)
- Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator (InDesign and Photoshop also helpful)
- Comfortable working with your hands: precise cutting tools (Exacto knives, rulers), basic hand tools
- Self-starter mindset — thrives in an unstructured, fast-changing environment and proactively looks for things to do during slower periods
- Physically able to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs; work on step-stools/ladders; view a screen for extended periods
- 4-year college degree or equivalent experience
Nice-to-Haves:
- Prior sign fabrication or production experience
- An eye for how visual design supports marketing and branding
- Comfort presenting design ideas clearly to customers
