As a Dispatch Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing our dispatch operations to ensure efficiency and high-quality service. Your primary duties will include:
Dispatch Supervision: Managing the daily activities of the dispatch team to ensure smooth operations and timely service delivery.
Team Training: Providing comprehensive training to all dispatch staff to maintain professional standards and operational efficiency.
Driver & Owner Training: Conducting training sessions for all new drivers and independent car owners regarding company policies, navigation, service expectations, and operational software usage.
Local Knowledge Mentorship: A core component of your role will be training staff to navigate the unique nature of our service area. As we serve Cape Breton Island, a community with a large retiree population, our customers often use historical landmarks or retired building names when requesting taxi service. You will be responsible for teaching new dispatchers and drivers how to interpret these local references effectively to ensure accurate and timely pickups.
Performance Monitoring: Ensuring that all drivers, owners, and dispatchers adhere to company standards and regulatory requirements, efficiency, and teamwork.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in dispatching, transportation, customer service, or call center operations preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and organized under pressure.
- Excellent multitasking and time-management abilities.
- Strong knowledge of local roads, routes, and transportation services.
- Ability to use dispatch software, GPS systems, Microsoft Office, and computer-based booking platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording information.
- Ability to work independently and make quick decisions.
- Professional and courteous customer service approach.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Experience:
- Taxi, limousine, trucking, delivery, or transportation industry experience.
- Experience handling high-volume phone calls and coordinating multiple vehicles.
- Knowledge of airport transportation procedures.
- Experience working with drivers and managing real-time operations.
