Drafter - Manufacturing/Fabrication

Working closely with engineering and fabrication teams, you will transform design concepts into detailed fabrication drawings, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs) used to manufacture structural steel and piping components.

This is a fully on-site position, Monday to Friday.
Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (30-minute lunch)
Responsibilities
- Produce accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings from engineering design inputs.
- Create General Arrangement (GA) drawings, detailed fabrication drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
- Prepare drawing packages suitable for fabrication and manufacturing.
- Interpret engineering design documents and convert them into fabrication-ready drawings.
- Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and project teams to ensure drawing accuracy.
- Communicate with personnel at fabrication facilities and project sites regarding drawing revisions and technical details.
- Apply knowledge of fabrication methods, materials, and welding practices during the drafting process.
- Maintain drawing revisions and documentation throughout project execution.
Qualifications - Must Haves:
- Minimum 5 years of drafting experience within a fabrication environment.
- Experience with one or more of the following: Heavy metal fabrication; sheet metal fabrication; pipe fabrication; structural steel fabrication
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D
- Ability to generate: GA drawings; detail drawings; BOMs
- Knowledge of common fabrication materials, including: Carbon steel; stainless steel, aluminum
- Familiarity with ASTM and ASME material grades.
- Understanding of common welding processes and the ability to interpret weld symbols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Assets
- Experience with AutoCAD 3D.
- Experience using SolidWorks, Inventor, Plant 3D, or Revit.
- Structural steel plate and bending experience.
- Experience designing piping systems and piping components.
Requirements
- Must be willing to work full-time on-site in Welland, ON.
- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance (candidates located west of Stoney Creek will not be considered).
- Must be eligible to travel to the United States for occasional training and meetings.
- Must complete:
- AutoCAD proficiency assessment during the interview process.
- Pre-employment screening.
- Submission of sample drawings or drafting portfolio.
