This is an exciting opportunity to work at the Renfrew Recovery Centre providing concurrent capable, adult medical detoxification and mental health services. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays an important role in providing recovery oriented, client centered, evidence informed, assessment, treatment and recovery services to Albertans. You will perform direct medical monitoring and maintenance of withdrawal; engage in individual therapeutic interactions such as medication administration, triage support, and group facilitation while supporting individuals in connecting to community-based resources. Working with individuals to manage the full spectrum of addiction & mental health disorders and medical co-morbidities within their full scope of practice is a key part of the LPN's duties. Knowledge and adherence to Recovery Alberta policies, procedures, values and code of conduct is a requirement of the individual maintaining the position. In addition, adherence to various applicable acts, such as the Mental Health, Health Information, Mental Health Services Protection and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy acts. It is also the expectation that the successful candidate stays up to date on current best practices, unit specific practices, and maintain timely, accurate documentation.

You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Recovery Alberta policies and procedures. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current and/or recent experience in an adult medical detox setting. If new graduate, must have had preceptorship in relevant Adult Medical Detox Centre. Direct LPN experience in a triage setting. Knowledge and experience in de-escalating potentially volatile and violent situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of harm reduction strategies and training in Opioid Agonist Therapy. Completion of Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and/or Brief Solution-Focused Therapy training. Previous experience facilitating/co-facilitating groups. Ability to complete behavioral risk assessments, withdrawal assessments. Client Centered and Trauma informed philosophy of care.
