About the Role
Suncor is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Senior Site Production Technologist to join the Firebag Production Engineering team, reporting to the Field Production Engineering Manager within In Situ Technical Operations. In this critical role, you will support safe, reliable, and efficient well operations in a dynamic SAGD environment by providing daily surveillance, operating guidance, and optimization support to maximize production throughput. Working closely with Pad Production Engineers, Reservoir Engineers, Field Operations, and Central Processing Facility teams, you will play a key role in driving performance through data-driven decision-making and cross-functional collaboration.

Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in technology from an accredited technologist institute with 8-12 years related work experience.
Ideally eligibile for registration with ASET, preferably as C.E.T or P. Tech
Industry experience in oil and gas, direct experience in Situ SAGD operations considered an asset.
Strong understanding of production engineering, reservoir engineering principles, and production optimization practices
Working knowledge of subsurface software and data tools such as WellView, PI, Seeq, and Power BI
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams
Self-motivated, proactive, and highly organized, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities:
Monitor well, pad, and field performance using real-time data and trends against SAGD operating envelopes, including subcool, steam targets, flow rates, ESP performance, and well integrity
Provide daily surveillance and optimization recommendations to support safe, reliable, and efficient production
Coordinate daily with Production and Reservoir Engineers, Field Operations, Plant Operations, Maintenance & Reliability, Automation, and Completions to prioritize critical work
Manage well start-ups and production activities based on current field and operating constraints
Gather and communicate key operating inputs, including speed-ups, cut lists, start-up plans, NCG targets, steam targets, and LOTO requirements, to support Pads Production, Integrated Operations, and Control Room teams
Troubleshoot and optimize ESP performance, support failure response, and coordinate replacement design and execution with ESP specialists and Completions teams
Coordinate contractor visits for subsurface-related work and ensure alignment with scheduling, training, permitting, and site requirements
Identify and support continuous improvement, automation, new technology implementation, and compliance with the Operational Excellence Management System
Location and other Key details:
This position works on a Fly-in/Fly-out (FIFO) schedule at the Firebag office (Flights provided from Calgary or Edmonton, Saskatoon)
Hours of work are 12 hour day shifts
