Litigation Paralegal – Collections - #5172
Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join its growing collections practice. In this role, you will assist with all stages of the debt recovery process, including commencing legal proceedings, obtaining judgments, and post-judgment enforcement matters such as negotiating repayment arrangements, assessing financial circumstances, and pursuing garnishment remedies. Training will be provided if needed.
Responsibilities
- Prepare court documents for the Provincial Court (Small Claims) and the Supreme Court of British Columbia, including pleadings, affidavits, lists of documents, post-judgment enforcement applications, garnishing orders, summonses to payment hearings, and other enforcement-related court documents.
- Prepare bankruptcy court documents on behalf of unsecured creditors when required.
- Utilize the federal government's required software (Atrium) for correspondence, file management, organization, and timekeeping. Training provided if needed.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, debtors, and third parties involved in the collections process.
- Manage calendars, limitation periods, and filing deadlines while ensuring compliance with the Small Claims Rules, Supreme Court Civil Rules, and other applicable court requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Paralegal in British Columbia.
- Experience with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), ICBC, a financial institution, a collections agency, or another government or regulatory organization is considered an asset.
- Willing and able to obtain and maintain Protected B Security Status. Training provided if needed.
- Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe, and other office software.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while meeting tight deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and a strong commitment to client service.
- High ethical standards with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

Pay: $70,000.00-$97,000.00 per year
