Building Maintenance and General Help Team Member

Store Manager, Operations Supervisor and Owners
Summary
The Building and Yard Maintenance/General Help team member, under the direction of the Operations Supervisor and Owners, is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair for Stevensville Garden Gallery. The incumbent completes maintenance work as required. In addition will perform basic repairs and maintenance throughout the yard and premises as well as assist with receiving, organizing, stocking, delivery duties.

Job Duties
Building Maintenance and Groundskeeping
- Ensure that yard and premises is free of hazards. Maintain a safe workplace for employees and customers. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on building entrances, walkways, entrances, cart corrals. Ensure carts are stored safely. Complete repair to carts as required, etc.
- Perform a variety of repairs, carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical tasks as required
- Participate in various aspects of building maintenance requirements, including updates and new constructions
- Replace broken windows, repair doors, door locks and closets, etc.
- Prepare, paint and decorate interior and exterior surfaces as required
- Operate grounds-keeping power equipment and maintain internal and external property
- Sweep, mop and clean al floors daily. Remove garbage on a regular basis.
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures
- Any other duties as required
General Help
- Responsible for receiving, organizing and stocking products.
- Assist customers with loading and unloading vehicles.
- Ensure products in departments are removed and re-stocked daily as required. (Refer to tasklists)
- Complete deliveries and ensure documentation are completed.
- Ensure daily walk-through of premises indoor and outdoor to ensure that all areas are kept clean and tidy.
Requirements
- Related field of work or equivalent experiences
- 5 years of work experience in building maintenance considered an asset
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently
- Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
- Ability to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environment
- Ability to perform minor repair work
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and material handling equipment while performing duties
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to create alternative solutions to problems
- Excellent time management and project management skills
- High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work well under pressure

- First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets
- Valid driver’s license
- Flexible schedule, available weekends and holidays.
Work Conditions
- Flexible availability may be required
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Safety equipment may be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
- Hazards associated with the trade
- Work both indoors and outdoors.
Job Types: Seasonal, Part-time
Pay: $18.50-$22.00 per hour
