Our team is growing, and we are seeking two Senior Welders to join our Welding & Fabrication shop. This is an opportunity for an experienced welder to work with a dedicated team producing high-quality fabricated products while maintaining Velocity Machining & Welding's commitment to precision, safety, and customer satisfaction.
About the Role
As Senior Welder, you’ll be responsible for accurately welding a variety of metal/steel products for fabrication based on assigned work orders. You will utilize various welding techniques, work safely to meet production targets, and avoid waste. This role requires a strong focus on accuracy, precision, and quality workmanship while working independently and as part of a team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review work orders and read and interpret drawings for clear understanding before commencing welding.
- Accurately welding a variety of metal/steel products in a safe manner using various welding techniques.
- Conduct quality checks during and upon completion of work to ensure conformance with specified requirements.
- Ensure the workstation and work area are tidy, safe, and clean. This would include work vehicles.
- Store tools and equipment in assigned locations within the shop when you have finished using them.
- Prepare, complete, and provide the shop supervisor with a copy of the damage report for any damaged, lost tools and/or equipment to have these items removed from the shop floor.
- Prepare, complete, and provide the shop supervisor with a copy of the vehicle maintenance report after using the work vehicle.
- Comply with safety policies and procedures that are implemented within the shop.
- Work in a respectful, inclusive, and cooperative manner to allow for positive team spirit and to meet the company’s goals and objectives.
Skills & Qualifications Required
- Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing, structural steel, or custom job shop environment
- Expert proficiency in GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and SMAW welding varied materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Expert ability to read complex industrial blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and weld symbols
- Capability to design, lay out, and build custom shop fixtures and jigs to maximize production efficiency and maintain tight tolerances.
- Demonstrated focus on producing quality work on time and with precision.
- Highly proactive, organized, and able to work independently to achieve the assigned tasks using time management, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Responsive, respectful, and capable of following directions to work within a team dynamic.
- Ability to complete jobs in the estimated time frames safely and accurately.
- Strong English communication skills – written, understanding and verbal.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety.
- Ability to comply with Company’s policies and procedures.
- Able to lift to 50 lbs unassisted.
