PrimeCare ABA Services is seeking a motivated and skilled Instructor Therapist to join our team!
Ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and young adults with special needs and a commitment to provide highest quality care services.
The successful candidate will work one-on-one and in a group environment with children and young adults (age group 2-18 years) delivering ABA (comprehensive and focused) therapy services. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and availability for evenings and weekends in clinic and in client-homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in activities related to client’s initial assessment.
- Follow and implement client’s Behaviour Plans developed by the supervising RBA/BCBA.
- Organize program materials as per client’s treatment plans.
- Deliver direct evidence based behaviour therapy services to the children and young adults. Services can be delivered in a variety of formats and settings (e.g. group, individual, self-directed, community etc.).
- Provide training to families / caregivers to build their capacities to maintain and/or extend skills in the children and young adults in their natural environment.
- Collect and graph data during ABA sessions, complete communication notes and update client files and binders accordingly.
- Provide ongoing communication to supervising RBA/BCBA and client parent/guardians as needed.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds when required and/or needed.
- Able to perform physical activities that are inherent when working with children (e.g. sitting on the floor, modeling appropriate tag play, running etc.)
- Other duties and responsibilities as required in providing quality ABA therapy services to the client and their families.
Instructor Therapist Must Possess:
- Post-secondary education in Behavioural Sciences or in a related field such as Psychology, Psychotherapy, Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Care or Social Worker program of study.
- Graduate certificate in Autism and Behavioural Sciences is preferred.
- Strong ability to build rapport with children and young adults of varying needs and with their families.
- Knowledge of and experience in utilizing a variety of data collection methods.
- Strong time management and observation skills.
- Ability to effectively work within an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
- Assertiveness and ability to work independently.
- Ability to work within a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong Interpersonal and social skills with effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in delivering and knowledge of the VBMAPP/ABLLS assessment.
