We are a community-minded therapy practice located in Pointe-Claire, Québec, serving individuals, couples, children, youth, and families across the West Island and greater Montréal area. We are seeking a bilingual part-time family therapist to join our team and provide culturally safe, trauma-informed, and relationship-centred care, with a particular focus on proudly serving Indigenous clients, families, and communities.
Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Bilingual Part-time Family Therapist with a focus on Indigenous practices. In this role, you will deliver culturally respectful therapy services to Indigenous families and children, supporting their mental health and overall well-being. Your bilingual skills will help bridge cultural gaps, ensuring clients feel understood and valued. Duties
- Provide culturally sensitive family therapy sessions to Indigenous clients, emphasizing Emotion Focused Therapy approaches.
- Collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that respect cultural values and traditions.
- Conduct assessments related to mental health, family dynamics, and child development, utilizing research-based methods.
- Maintain detailed case notes, progress reports, and treatment documentation in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collect data on client progress for ongoing research efforts aimed at improving Indigenous mental health services.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including medical professionals, schools, community partners, indigenous centers & agencies to coordinate comprehensive care.
Qualifications
· Master’s degree or higher in social work, couple and family therapy, counselling, psychology, psychoeducation or a related mental health field.
· Current membership in good standing with the appropriate Québec professional order, as applicable to the candidate’s discipline.
· Authorization to practise psychotherapy in Québec, where the role includes psychotherapy: psychologist, or holder of a psychotherapist’s permit issued by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ), or family therapist licence or counselling licence/permit.
· Experience providing therapy to families, couples, children, yout h, parents, and/or caregivers.
· Fluency in spoken and written French and English is mandatory.
· Knowledge of Indigenous histories, cultures, strengths, community realities, and culturally safe approaches to care; lived experience, established community relationships, or relevant training is considered a strong asset.
· Training or experience in trauma-informed care, family systems therapy, attachment-based approaches, Emotionally Focused Therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, CBT, DBT, or other evidence-informed modalities is an asset.
Requirements
· Part-time schedule, with flexible hours to be discussed.
· Practice location: Pointe-Claire, Québec.
· Flexibility to travel if necessary.
· In-person work preferred; hybrid or virtual services may be considered depending on client needs, regulatory requirements, and practice policies.
· Compensation includes government benefits: Salary to be discussed based on experience, credentials, and client caseload.
