The Opportunity
Carlson Construction Group is seeking a highly motivated Site Buyer to join our Neptune Terminal Project team. Reporting to the Project Service Manager, the Site Buyer will be responsible for ensuring materials, equipment, and services are procured, expedited, delivered, and received on schedule to support construction activities. This role is critical to maintaining material readiness and ensuring project execution proceeds without delays.

Key Responsibilities

Review and process approved purchase requests, ensuring accuracy of material descriptions, cost codes, and required delivery dates.
- Source materials and services from approved vendors while ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
- Conduct competitive bidding and vendor evaluations for procurement activities.
- Issue and manage purchase orders, revisions, and associated documentation through the ERP system.
- Expedite orders, monitor supplier performance, and proactively address procurement risks and delays.
- Coordinate with project teams, logistics, material management, engineering, quality, and cost control stakeholders.
- Track and manage vendor deliverables, certifications, inspection documentation, and turnover requirements.
- Resolve delivery issues, shortages, damages, and supplier discrepancies.
- Maintain procurement records, reporting, and audit documentation while supporting project cost and schedule objectives.
Qualifications & Assets

Diploma, Degree, or Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or materials management experience in construction, industrial, infrastructure, marine, energy, or heavy civil projects.
- Strong understanding of vendor management, competitive sourcing, purchase order administration, expediting, and procurement best practices.
- Experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications; Acumatica experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, organization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, site-based project environment.
- Experience with logistics coordination, material management, quality documentation, supplier prequalification programs (e.g., ISNetworld), and large industrial projects is considered an asset.
- Professional supply chain designations such as SCMP, CPSM, or APICS/ASCM are an advantage.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to work a 10 days on / 4 days off rotational schedule.
