Job Overview
Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of in-coming raw materials, in-process materials and finished products using general chemistry techniques. Primary focus is on wet bench analytical chemistry testing.
Duties
- Performs in an efficient and timely manner the specific testing required for individual work assignments using established procedures, equipment and instrumentation as directed by the supervisor. Reports any deviation in analytical or laboratory procedures and results to the supervisor.
- Provides prompt service for in-process or special request test samples to prevent manufacturing delays.
- Performs all work within safety guidelines. Practices proper precautions when handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
- Provides accurate, neat, and reliable analysis reports according to approved procedures that will allow the proper evaluation of the sample tested.
- Renders cooperative participation in the preventative maintenance / calibration and care of instruments and equipment as may be used.
- Prepares and standardizes reagents and solutions required to perform tests according to established methods.
- Maintains sufficient stock of reagents and solutions to perform on-going testing.
- Maintains order and cleanliness of the work area.
- Participates in the departmental training program.
- Primarily uses laboratory instruments - such as pH meter, Refractometer, Viscometers Polarimeter, KF Titrator, T.L.C., I.R., N.I.R., and U.V / VIS. Spectroscopy, Densitometer, Disintegration, Friability, and Hardness testers, Melting Range Apparatus, Density Apparatus, Sieve Shaker, Air Jet Sieve, Atomic Absorption, and analytical balances.
Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree.
- 3 years related work experience in QC Pharmaceutical Laboratory
- Knowledge and Understanding of GMP requirements from Health Canada and FDA as they relate to the QC Laboratory and Quality Systems
