Reporting to the Chief Mine Geologist, the Project Geologist will play a key role in supporting the
geological understanding, grade control, and production geology at the Hammerdown Mine. This
position is responsible for coordinating and advancing geology-based projects, supporting short-
and medium-range production geology, planning grade control drilling programs, and geological
modelling. As Project Geologist, you will be part of a dynamic team. Key Responsibilities include
but are not limited to:
- Planning and managing grade control drilling programs, including the management of
contractors, staff and core logging. This includes the management of QAQC, sampling and
data collection.
- Create updated geological sections with appropriate interpretations to guide the grade
control process in narrow vein gold mining.
- Integrate geological data (mapping, drilling, field observations) into updated geological
interpretations and models. Experience with 3D modelling software (Leapfrog, Datamine,
etc.) necessary and will be an integral part of the position.
- Provide support and guidance to students, mine geologists and geology technicians.
- Foster a safety-focused and collaborative working environment.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
What You Bring to the Field:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Science (or related discipline).
- 5+ years’ experience working in a mining environment, grade control, or advanced
exploration projects.
- Experience with Datamine, Leapfrog, Deswik, ArcGIS/QGIS, or similar geological and mining
software.
- Proficient in other computer software (Excel, Access, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively in a site-based environment and communicate clearly with geology,
engineering, and operations.
