Job description:
Halo Sawmill, a leading custom cut sawmill, located in Pitt Meadows, BC is actively seeking an Operating Millwright to enhance the maintenance of their mill. Halo Sawmill, is part of the Delta Forestry Group, a privately held family business, with a long history of consistent operations on the BC Coast. The business has a forward-looking plan, therefore offering stability for employees. These employment opportunities are full-time, well-paid positions, with benefits and require the ability to work shift work including weekends and graveyard.
Successful candidates will have a Millwright BCTQ or Red Seal Certification. Minimum of at least 5 years operating millwright experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Personally, models safe work practices.
- Inspects the physical plant and takes corrective action for unsafe conditions.
- Responsive to operating mechanical issues with other Operating Millwrights
- Troubleshoot issues and provide effective solutions to enable the mill to operate efficiently and safely.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Complete Daily equipment check list.
- Competent in using computer log book.
- Knowledge of sawmill operation and equipment.
- Strong knowledge of sawmill equipment and machinery, hydraulic systems, pneumatics systems, air and hydraulic cylinders, chain and belt conveyers, bearings, seals, drives, sprockets, belts and chains etc.
- Capable of stick welding and safe use of oxy/acetylene torch.
- Strong technical skills.
- Excellent multi-task capability with the skill to set and adjust priorities.
- Strong English oral, reading and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (listening, questioning etc.).
