About the Role
The Recruitment & Onboarding Specialist is responsible for managing full-cycle recruitment and leading the onboarding experience across Carlson Construction Group and its subsidiaries.
This role partners closely with hiring managers and operational leaders to identify talent needs, attract high-quality candidates, coordinate hiring activities, and ensure the successful integration of new employees into the organization. The successful candidate will serve as a key ambassador for our culture and employer brand while delivering a best-in-class candidate and employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition

Manage full-cycle recruitment for salaried, hourly, field, co-op, and professional positions.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and develop recruitment strategies.
- Create compelling job advertisements and promote opportunities through various recruitment channels.
- Source candidates through job boards, LinkedIn Recruiter, employee referrals, networking events, and industry associations.
- Screen resumes, conduct preliminary interviews, and assess candidate qualifications.
- Coordinate interviews and maintain consistent communication throughout the selection process.
- Prepare offer letters and support offer negotiations.
- Contribute to compensation and benefits administration, including salary benchmarking and compensation structure alignment.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs.
- Monitor labour market trends and identify innovative recruitment strategies.
- Promote Carlson Construction Group's employer brand through candidate interactions and recruitment initiatives.
On boarding & Employee Experience

Lead the onboarding process from offer acceptance through successful employee integration.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements and onboarding documentation.
- Facilitate new employee orientations and welcome sessions.
- Collaborate with IT, Payroll, Safety, and Operations teams to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
- Coordinate workstation setup, system access, equipment allocation, and site access requirements.
- Monitor onboarding progress and ensure completion of all onboarding activities.
- Write new hire welcome announcements and other employee lifecycle communications.
- Facilitate the 90-day probationary review process in partnership with new hires and hiring managers.
- Continuously enhance onboarding programs to improve employee engagement and retention.
- Maintain accurate employee records and recruitment documentation.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for employees on HR-related matters, providing timely guidance and support.
Human Resources Support

Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, performance review and company events.
- Coordinate and support internal and external training and development programs.
- Track and analyze HR metrics, providing insights and reports to support data-driven decision-making.
- Contribute to HR projects, programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.
Human Resources Support

Maintain accurate employee records and recruitment documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation and company policies.
- Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events.
- Assist with workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
- Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement efforts.
- Promote an inclusive, respectful, and positive workplace culture.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.
Qualifications
Required

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of recruitment, talent acquisition, onboarding, or HR experience.
- Proven experience managing full-cycle recruitment.
- Strong interviewing, relationship-building, and candidate assessment skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Exceptional writing skills with strong intuition, capable of crafting compelling communications, accurately assessing candidate suitability, and exercising sound judgment in fast-paced recruitment and HR environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Experience recruiting for construction, industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or skilled trades environments.
- Working knowledge of employment standards, HR best practices, and recruitment legislation in British Columbia.
- Experience supporting compensation and benefits administration, including salary benchmarking and market research.
- Familiarity with HRIS, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and recruitment platforms such as LinkedIn Recruiter.
- Experience coordinating onboarding programs across multiple business units
- Experience creating employee communications, welcome announcements, newsletters, or employer branding content.
- Exposure to employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.
- Experience organizing company events, training programs, and employee development activities.
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and HR metrics.
- Working knowledge of payroll processes and employee records management.
- Experience supporting co-op, internship, apprenticeship, or early-career recruitment programs.
- Experience using social media and digital marketing tools to support recruitment campaigns.

Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 per annum
The actual salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on job‑related factors, including relevant experience, years of experience, qualifications, internal equity, and Carlson Construction Group’s compensation policy.
