Job Title: Line Cook – Indian Cuisine
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook – Indian Cuisine to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing authentic Indian dishes and a passion for delivering high-quality food in a fast-paced restaurant environment. This role requires knowledge of Indian spices, traditional cooking techniques, and food safety standards. The Line Cook will be responsible for preparing menu items, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring timely service while upholding our quality standards.
Duties
- Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats, preparing sauces, and portioning ingredients.
- Prepare traditional items such as curries, tandoori dishes, biryanis, naan, Dosas, appetizers, and desserts.
- Ensure proper use and storage of Indian spices, herbs, and specialty ingredients.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including tandoor ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking equipment.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Follow food handling, sanitation, and hygiene procedures in accordance with health regulations.
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and stocked throughout service.
- Work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and timely service.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management when supplies need replenishment.
- Adhere to all restaurant policies, food safety regulations, and workplace safety procedures.
Skills & Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience as a Line Cook, Prep Cook, or Cook in an Indian restaurant or similar food service establishment.
- Strong knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine, spices, cooking methods, and regional dishes.
- Experience preparing curries, tandoori specialties, biryanis, breads, and traditional Indian appetizers.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 15 kgs when required.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
