Electricians – Red Seal Journeyperson, and 4th year Apprentice
Roost Solar is a locally owned solar installation company serving homeowners and businesses throughout the Thompson-Okanagan.
Since 2016, we’ve built our reputation on integrity, practical expertise, and long-term client relationships. We are looking for mature, detail-oriented, and skilled Electricians to help install, test, and maintain solar PV systems as well as work on service upgrades, EV charger installations, and other general electrical work. Solar experience is not required for these positions, although it is an asset.

Schedule: 40-hour work week (usually compressed to 4 x 10-hr days, Monday - Thursday)
Employment Term: Seasonal - typically until December.
Compensation:
- $33 - $37 per hour for Red Seal Journeypersons.
- $27 to $30 per hour for 4th year Apprentice.
- Base wage depends on experience and skills.
- Performance-based bonus structure for residential projects and prevailing wage top-ups for eligible commercial projects.
- Optional extended benefits plan.
- Paid travel time from shop to site.
Location: Vernon, BC with occasional overnight travel to surrounding communities.
Duties: Under the supervision of the Operations Manager and Field Crew Supervisor, help install, test, and maintain ground-mounted and roof-mounted solar PV arrays.
Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician:
- Assist in solar PV system electrical design.
- Install and commission solar systems and EV Chargers
- Undertake other electrical work including battery installations, service upgrades, generator installations and electrical retrofits.
- Mentor and guide Apprentice Electricians, providing training and support as needed to foster skill development and teamwork.
4th year Apprentices:
- Install solar PV wiring and solar inverters.
- Assist with installing back-up battery systems and EV chargers.
- Assist with other general electrical work including service upgrades, generator installations and electrical retrofits.
- As needed, help with installing other components of solar arrays including footings, racking systems and solar panels and assist with trenching, foundation work, and other necessary tasks to prepare the site.
Your Qualifications
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as Red Seal Electrician.
- Highly motivated self-starter.
- Comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders.
- Have (or be willing to obtain) proper safety certifications including Fall Safety Protection and Occupational First Aid.
- Ability to lift up to 70lbs.
- Valid BC driver’s license.
- Ability to travel to project sites in the Thompson-Okanagan.
- Roofing, general construction or carpentry experience is an asset.
- Experience hauling trailers is an asset.
- Previous experience with solar panel installation or knowledge of PV technology is an asset.
