Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Receptionist / Administrative Assistant to join our team. We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented individual to be the welcoming face to our sewing machine and service store. You will manage daily front desk operations, field customer inquiries, and provide essential administrative support to sales and technical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service & Front Desk: Be the first point of contact for all walk-in customers and callers, ensuring a warm, welcoming, and professional store environment.
- Communications: Answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls and emails to the appropriate sales associate or sewing machine technician.
- Scheduling & Bookings: Schedule customer appointments for machine servicing, in-store repairs and consultations.
- Order & Service Tracking: Create and manage intake tickets for sewing machines dropped off for repair. Track repair statuses and notify customers when their machines are ready for pickup.
- Administrative Support: Maintain client databases, file paperwork, process mail and courier deliveries, and assist with basic data entry.
- Retail & Cash Support: Assist with point-of-sale (POS) processing, handling customer transactions for machine sales, notions, and accessories.
- Store Organization: Monitor and order front-office and store supplies, and ensure the reception area and lobby remain tidy and presentable.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in a receptionist, administrative, or retail customer service role.
- Industry Knowledge: While previous sewing experience or extensive machine knowledge is a plus, a willingness to learn basic sewing terminology and product lines is required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a highly positive, patient, and problem-solving attitude.
- Tech Proficiency: Comfort with basic computer software (Microsoft Office, email, and calendar management) and the ability to learn store inventory/scheduling software.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, and the physical capacity to assist with light lifting (e.g., carrying notions or helping customers with dropped-off machines).
