Position Summary
The Subprime Finance Manager is responsible for reviewing customer credit profiles, identifying available financing opportunities, educating consumers on their options, and guiding clients through the automotive finance process with honesty, transparency, and professionalism.
Unlike traditional dealerships, UpDrive's mission is to advocate for consumers and help them make informed financial decisions. The Subprime Finance Manager acts as a trusted advisor, ensuring customers understand their credit situation, available lending options, vehicle affordability, and long-term financial goals.
This position requires strong knowledge of automotive lending, credit analysis, lender programs, customer service, and relationship building.
Core ResponsibilitiesCustomer Consultation & Credit Review
- Conduct detailed credit reviews with customers.
- Analyze credit bureaus and identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
- Educate customers on factors impacting their credit scores.
- Develop customized financing strategies based on each customer's situation.
- Explain lending decisions in a clear and transparent manner.
Financing & Lending
- Review available lender programs and approval options.
- Match customers with appropriate financing solutions.
- Structure deals to maximize approval potential while maintaining affordability.
- Communicate lender requirements and conditions to customers.
- Assist customers with gathering required stipulations and documentation.
Customer Advocacy
- Act in the customer's best interest throughout the process.
- Review finance contracts and explain terms and conditions.
- Help customers understand interest rates, loan terms, warranties, GAP coverage, and ancillary products.
- Identify opportunities to improve customers' financial position through refinancing, rate reductions, or vehicle upgrades.
- Provide unbiased recommendations based on customer needs.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with lenders, dealerships, and referral partners.
- Follow up with customers throughout the process.
- Deliver a professional white-glove customer experience.
- Generate referrals and repeat business through exceptional service.
Business Development
- Work inbound and outbound finance opportunities.
- Follow up with previous customers and dormant leads.
- Participate in marketing campaigns and lead-generation initiatives.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and notes.
- Achieve monthly production and performance targets.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years automotive finance experience.
- Strong understanding of subprime and non-prime lending.
- Experience with credit bureau analysis.
- Knowledge of automotive finance products and lender programs.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to explain complex financial concepts in simple language.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- CRM experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Finance Manager experience.
- Experience with Dealertrack and lender portals.
- Previous subprime lending experience.
- Existing lender relationships.
- Knowledge of Canadian automotive finance regulations.
