Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must Possess a Class 1 Driver license, with clean abstract and with no criminal record.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years experience on northern roads (North of 60th parallel) - PLEASE DO NOT APPLY TO THIS JOB POSTING IF YOU DO NOT POSSESS THIS EXPERIENCE
- All trips will require driving through the night, must be comfortable and capable of driving at night.
- Drive safely and comply with all traffic laws and company policies
- Maintain a clean vehicle that is in good repair and ready for use
- Report for work on time and as scheduled
- Complete pre-trip inspection and post-trip inspection
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Report any maintenance issues to management immediately
- Other duties as assigned by management
Dangerous Goods certification will be provided. Once certified, must ensure proper paperwork and placards are in place for loaded freight. Follow all regulations and rules.
Haul freight in Vans (reefers/heaters/dry) and on decks. Occasional pick-ups and deliveries en-route. Must ensure customer and company paperwork is correct.
Deck loads must be checked to ensure they are secure and conform to all highway safety standards. Checking load is secure throughout the trip.
Must perform a thorough pre-trip & post-trip inspection, write up any required repairs and flag any other issues.
Maintain legible up to date paperwork, including log books and vehicle inspection reports, as per the law.
Work with Long Haul Dispatch to coordinate weekly/monthly schedules, and advise on any issues during the trip that may affect the on-time arrival of the freight.
Responsible for following all highway laws and rules. Drive to the road conditions and utilize tire chains if required.
Knowledge and experience of Alaska Hwy, Hwy 97 and driving in the north is required.
