Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing CNC machine programs to produce high-quality precision components. The CNC Programmer will collaborate closely with production and engineering teams to ensure efficient operations and adherence to quality standards.
Duties
Programming and Development
- Proficient with AUTO – CAD and Solid Works programs
- Write, test and debug programs using CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software
- Translates technical drawings, templates, orders and CAD (Computer Aided Design) models into machine instructions
- Optimize programs to reduce cycle times and reduce material waste
Machine Setup and Operations
- Collaborate with operators to set up machines for production
- Conduct test runs to ensure machines operate correctly and produce parts within tolerances
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Identify and resolve programming errors, machine malfunctions or tool issues
- Work with operators to ensure proper calibration and tool maintenance
- Work with operators to troubleshoot possible issues
Collaboration and Training
- Team Player
- Communicate with operators and other team members to refine designs for manufacturability
- Train operators on new programs and processes
- Provide technical support during production runs
Process Improvement
- Continuously evaluate and improve machining process to enhance efficiency and quality
- Stay updated with latest advancements in software and machining technology
- Create, review and implement improvement processes
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of programming activities, machine set ups and process changes
- Assist and create SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for programming processes
Co-ordination and Communication
- Laisse with Sales and Operations to confirm order details
- Communicate order status, changes or issues in a timely manner
Problem Resolution
- Investigate and resolve programming discrepancies and delays
- Implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues
Performance Indicators
- Programming accuracy
- Timeliness of program processing
- Contributes to process improvement initiatives
Skills
- Proven experience in CNC programming, preferably with experience in multiple machine types such as mills and lathes.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
- Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot programming issues efficiently.
- Attention to detail with a focus on precision and quality control.
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration with team members across departments.
- Nice-to-have skills include familiarity with automation systems or experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
